The DeLorean Owners Association Expo 98
All the photos with the balloons around the cars are from the 'DeLorean
One' Concours DeLorean' judging on Saturday. There were 14 cars. 1st place
went to a car that had just been restored with only 1,400 miles on the
odometer. 2nd place was taken by a car that had just been purchased by
a member of the owners club in Japan. He was taking the car home from
the show. Third went to a car from Texas. I only entered my car just to
say I did it. There are too many non-stock things about my car to win
and I had driven it the 400 miles down from Sacramento and there was no
way I could get it clean enough.
The next group is from the Sunday drive to the Los Angeles State and
County Arboretum. 21 cars came on the drive. We made many stops along
the way as detailed below. This was one of the most fun parts of the weekend.

There
were 3 rows of cars surrounding the DeLorean 1 Transport truck. This is
looking down the largest row in the back.
Looking
back towards the main row. The car next to the sign was a restored high
mileage car on display from DeLorean 1.
This
is my car (and me) getting judged for operational items (lights, switches,
etc.)

Mr.
Bernstien himself did the judging on the engines on all the cars. Here
he's noting how dirty my engine is.
Scott
Begg and his wife (from Davis, CA) look on with me as Ed marks off all
those points.

Judging
for outside quality. That was the toughest category.
This
is the car that got 1st place. You could white glove ANY part of that
car and not find a speck of grease or dust.

This
is my favorite picture from the show. Lots of color, all the doors up.
The third car up (without the license plate) was the 2nd place winner.
Saturday
evening was the 'DeLorean Expo'98 Reception'.
Sunday
morning marked the drive to the Arboretum.

Here
the cars are all lined up in front of the Tournament House (formerly the
Wrigley Mansion). This now the home of the Tournament of Roses Association.
