Lighting, a stage, and sound system for the bar.

This year we had a stage for the bar, so it needed amplification and lighting. So the question was, how do I come up with stage lights for little money that could withstand the rigors of the playa? Answer: build them from scratch with available components. The lights are based on a high-power type of white LED. The light cans are literally cans - vegetable cans to be exact. Cleaned out and painted flat black on the outside. The mounting brackets are made from a strip of metal bent into a U shape and attached to the can and the main light bar (a shelf bracket) with small screws and wing nuts. The colored gels are real theatrical gels held on with dogfood keeper lids with the centers cut out. As you can see, they looked pretty professional (in the dark) and really lit the stage properly. Total cost - under $200. And I built a 3rd bar to light the main sign. It was supposed to have 3 lights also but one of the LED's was messed up and I didn't discover it in time for the event.

As to the stage and amps, the stage was built in my shop and transported in my RV up and back. It was 8 by 12 feet. A friend of the group donated most of the wood. I borrowed the PA amp. It had issues but it worked well enough, especially for the price.
